M101a2 goal - turn this into an off-road camping trailer

Just picked up this M101a2 in Western PA. Had been looking for a while and this seemed like the most affordable and hopefully a fun winter project.

Plan to use as a base camp for mt. biking, surfing and exploring. Hopefully it ends up resembling a Xventure XV2.

I'll do my best to update as I go along.

Plans include:
1. Matching wheels
2. Lid
3. Elevated rack
4. RTT
5. Rear hitch
6. Batteries
7. Tongue box
8. Water
9. Hot water heater
10. Propane
11. Maybe paint

Here's the pickup.

Coming back from a ruptured achilles so slow progress. Got the wheel adapters on and mounted a test wheel all good. Props to Lenny at Motorsport Tech great to work with on the adapters! Started the cargoglide install . I'll update tomorrow.

Here is the test fit on the wheel. Used wheel adapter to go to 6x5.5. This is my spare off the Tahoe. Waiting for wheels to come in...not bad barely sticks out.

$300...7-10 days but they had to be shipped from NV to PA.

Thanks! And good luck with the Achilles. I sliced mine in half on a piece of glass in college. Much cleaner and easier to repair than a rupture but I know what you're going through and have the ankle scar to prove it.

Got a bit more done this weekend. Both wheels on to match Tahoe. Cargoglide in and lid on.

Nice work. I like the slide out tray. Very helpful to unload.
Are you keeping the camo or matching the tow vehicle?
