I've been watching this for a while and decided to go for it once it dropped in price. Secoup compressor, dual zone, independent controls-

No warrantty from the seller, but Ebay will add one for $50

Truckfridge used to distribute these in the US, but they put all their sales on hold after getting reports that the valve that allowed for different levels of refrigerant in the two compartments was faulty. Being Italian, parts seem not to be so easy to get. Even with a 3-year warranty and shipping this is cheaper than a Whynter, I figure it's worth a try-

My preferred route would be two separate units, both / either can be used as cooler, fridge or freezer as the weather changes, ice melts, food gets eaten etc.

Ideally two identical ones.

$650 for that volume is marginal as far as being a super bargain.

Especially from eBay, after their distributor bailed out.

Engel or ARB for top quality.

Or just whatever cheapest deal comes along while saving my pennies, they are all pretty efficient and robust.
