Spent most of yesterday reading and trying to find some pics of a factory dual battery setup in a '87 or older truck or suburban (non specific). I chose 87 or older as dual batteries seemed more popular then.

I have a 1991 1500 Suburban and I have two raised molded bosses on top of my fan shroud. I suspect they are there for a reason.

Ignore the yellow loom wiring, that's temporary until i can figure this out. I am wondering if the cable went over the shroud loomed and mounted via those bosses to keep them secure.

Thoughts?

The first pic is a military Chevy. The second is from an 87 K30 that I had. In the case of the military setup, the positioning is more obvious. The K30 had a positive cable traversing the radiator, under AC lines, and is observed with the bumpy plastic sheathing. Grounds for both batteries were to the chassis on the left battery and to the engine for the right side.
