Looking for battery options now that Diehard Platinums are discontinued

This is another one of those topics that matters a lot less than it used to. Aside from the comments about Optima (which seem to be universal) almost any major company battery will be good. AGMs are worth the extra scratch. Lithium-Iron, probably not.

I just picked up a Northstar x2 24f because they didn't carry the 27f and I needed it quick. Was this a mistake since the truck calls for a 27f? The 24f Northstar far exceeds the recommended cold crank amps recommended for the truck and that of the previous cheapo 27f that was in there before.
It will be fine. Toyota in the Tacoma (at least in 2008) put a group 24 in stock and 27 as an option with the towing package. These two sizes are generally interchangeable and if the specs meet or exceed, you're good.
