So I've worn my SK a few times so far (hasn't been that cold). I'm pleased with it. I'm looking forward to wearing it on my snow run in Jan and taking it up to northern Canada in August (running the Dempster). I like having the brim out front since I wear glasses.
My wife likes the ear pull-down option, and she likes the hole for a ponytail out the back of her hat. I got her a black one. She's worn it a couple times too, and I think she looks way better in hers than I do in mine. She says it is good for "mild" cold weather, but would choose a knit hat for bitter cold weather.
The one she has with the hole in the back for the ponytail is called the Millie Kromer:
