Got it for my wife a few years ago. It’s an ‘06 which is finally up to 71,000 miles. Put some 5th gen 4R limited wheels/tires on it for summer and have stock wheels with all terrains for winter.

Don’t use it off road much since she won’t let me but after not being able to get a big tandem axle trailer off my property cause of mud and snow with a 2019 Silverado, I used it last night. 4 low, center diff lock, put it in low gear and it just walked right out with NO wheel spin. Incredible vehicles!502641

I’ve been lurking in this thread for weeks as I was shopping to upgrade from my 98 Tacoma. It was a three way choice between a first gen tundra, a 4th gen 4Runner and a GX. In my area it became clear that the best value was the GX. I found this one on Saturday and paid the asking price. 145k, a folder full of service records and never driven off road. The only downsides, it’s my least favorite color (although it’s growing on me), and it has Nav, which I would’ve preferred to avoid. Other than that, I love it. It’s such a different experience to drive, so quiet and powerful compared to my taco. I put over 200 miles on it this weekend just fooling around and finding slippery gravel roads to test it out on.

@JakeH

On the center console next to the gear selector, hers only has the bottom two switches, 4wd and downhill assist? But there are no switches above those. I thought KDSS and rear air were the missing switches.

KDSS doesn't have any switches, it's a fully passive behind the scenes system. I think both blanks on the console are related to the air suspension. Somebody who has those will likely know, but my guess is one is for sport/comfort setting & the other is for height control.

I believe the missing switches are height control and multi-terrain select.

There's no MTS in the GX470.

Height control and comfort/sport settings are in a single long switch on the left side of the shifter console.

Thanks J, should have prefaced my reply with “on the gx460...”

Appreciate you keeping me honest

So it turns out toy-tec makes a 3" kit for the 460 complete with all manner of offroad goodies & option for a few grand. That's way more than I'm interested in changing on my truck, but some other activity on the lexus forum says that spacer lifts for the 4runner will work. They also have some threads regarding spidertrax & other wheel spacers to get the wheels pushed out to even with the fenders. I'm torn between keeping the super capable Toyota engineering or making sure nobody mistakes it for a mall cruiser....decisions!
