Hey guys,
So after looking on craigslist for a couple weeks. I pulled the trigger on a 2001 limited 3.5L with 209K miles for $3642 out the door. I've been mentally making a list of the maintenance that I need to do before I am completely satisfied and can move on to the aftermarket stuff (That list is MUCH easier to make!). So far I have this:
- Replace timing belt and water pump
- Replace valve cover gaskets
- Its throwing two codes that both seem to indicate it needs a new O2 sensor (P0125 and another one saying it is running lean in one or more cylinders)
- New idler pulley - one of them on the upper driver side inboard of the valves is squeaking a little bit.
- Oil change just cause.
- Maybe ATF? Not sure what the life is on the fluid in there now...
- New wiper blades, the current ones blow.
- The passenger front brake squeals after i let off the brake pedal, and the pedal itself seems to stick a little bit before actually releasing. Any ideas as to what that could be? Master Cylinder or calipers?
Can you guys think of anything else I should do while I've got it torn apart? I'm debating on whether to do the head gaskets just cause I have a another vehicle at the moment that I can use, but I figure if I do that, then I might as well get a valve job and the heads machined and it seems like it kinda adds up fast...
Also, those of you that have performed these things before, any recommended brands to use, or where to buy? Are there any manuals online that you guys know of? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I will post pictures soon, i'm just not feeling all that well right now. Its stock, silver with black leather interior, with minor dings and bumps. All in all, looks pretty good for a 200k rig.
Thanks guys!
Edit: Forgot a couple things:
- The steering wheel itself kinda sounds like a leather on leather rubbing sound when I turn it. It's not bad at all, just want to see if anyone else's has done that before and what they did to get rid of it.
- I know the Cam (crank?) bolt on gen 2.5's is a problem part and should immediately be replaced, Is it a problem on the early gen 3's as well?
