(Julmood) My 2016 Nissan Patrol Y61 (GU), SWB, 4.8L I-6, in the Arabian Wilderness!

Damn that looks so, so sweet. I wish I could pair a SWB Y61 to my shorty but there simply are none here in Guatemala. I've only seen one and the guy who owns it put a 22RE Yota motor in it

But anyway, congrats brother! Your shorty is looking stellar!

Does the 35” spare fit on the rear door? I don't know how strong the Y61 rear hatched are but be mindful the weight of the 35 could damage the rear door. That's why I keep mine on my roof rack now. Plus I like the look of it better

Just be careful with sand or dust getting into that shock. But if others have cut it with no problem, then you gotta trust them. It's just a matter of personal preference.

Thanks, bro :) I'm having some slight issues figuring out how to put it on the spare holder, but I'll space it out 1.5-2" out and 1.5-2" up, I think. Fabricate it in a garage (put the handler there with the spare tyre for measurements).

Y61 can get cracked barn doors by even stock spares, I think in depends on how you drive. I'm not a fan of jumping so I think It'll hold itself a bit longer before the side crack shows up. I'm considering fabricating a spare holder off the cherokee or LC200 on the chassis. I'll see how think go. Having it on your roof rack can worsen your roll angle, and we have some tilted tracks here so I'm more into keeping the weight closer to the ground, not to mention some desert drives as well.

And if something bad happens to my shock, I'll replace them with cheap Chinese ones like the ones on my old Y60 that never failed me! For like around 100$ for the set! So I'm not very worried about them.

More mods later, just need to gather more cash ;)

Sounds good bud. Nice work.

Tried to figure something up, after many tries decided to leave the wheel and the spare holder at the garage and sent some designs to fabricate something useful.

Went for some mild offroading to test "Julmood" and make some poses :). I've noticed when I plug it on L4 the ABS light blinks, with diff lock on as well. But when back to H4 it stops. Tried to flex but didn't look good enough but seems the ABS is helping the car stabilize when climbing a rock? Or I'm imagining:drool:? Seems like a system to stabilize the car while rock climbing or driving down or up. My old Y60 didn't have any ABS :) Although I now the system with other cars I had.

Tailshaft angle should be corrected once the gearbox spacers arrive.

Seems like it's an intelligent ABS system since 1998, check at minute 3:

Gonna buy this tailshaft spacer for 15 OMR used (39$ USD). Just in case I need it as the shaft seems to be stretched already with the lift. Originally bought from Australia and used for a very short of time, then the guy is selling it for that much.

Operation: Blackout accomplished  (blacked grill "except logo", blacked door handles, blacked side mirrors, blacked side steps, blacked fog lights surroundings, blacked rear door plate "except [PATROL] name") + installed the gearbox spacers (12mm) and now it's better.

What does the gearbox spacer give you? Why put it on?

On my FJ the light for the ABS brake sometime comes on when in 4LO. Try engaging the 4WD in and out and it should turn off eventually.

The tail lights look great, but I gotta be honest, I liked the original front Nissan grill better than the blacked out version. That’s just me though.

Gearbox spacers give the tail shaft a better, more straighten alignment to avoid stress. It's not 100% perfect, maybe longer rear arms should do the trick with a tailshaft spacer to make up for the length. This what happens when the shaft isn't rotating in the proper order:

So with a double cardan shaft it makes it perfect :)

That ABS blinking is actually Nissan's Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS), it's helps with rock crawling balance, up/down hill, and stops spinning front tyre that has no grip to shift it to the other stuck one. So it's like a computed diff lock, and it's been there since 1997-1998 with modifications later on. Only engages when on L4 and with rear diff lock on.

About the original grill, that's because you've never seen more than 10,000 2005+ Y61's ;) It's a common car since decades, so any slight change makes you stand out. And I just love black since my old Y60 ;) It's a personal preference.

Warm greetings, Vince (y)
