Love all those Toyota sedans telling you they can do what a Patrol can do.

lol! You can reach that place with any car, even a Ferrari with some lift :) But there are spots where not even my patrol is ready for with its radials, need muddies ASAP!

Do you know the story behind the Patrol with big fender flares? It looks like fender flares from Icelandic Arctic Trucks but the surroundings are definitely not the northern hemisphere...

Sadly the photos aren't shown anymore, but it it's not from there then I guess it was from Philippines or Australia, not remembering what was it.

Really like your new Patrol btw :)

Thanks, bro. Just wait until I put some new 35" and wheels on it, should look more serious :)

Around the area another day at 2:30pm! (15-Aug-2017), it's around 800-900m high. It's not too high but still the clouds are very low, starting from 100-200m and sometimes fog in the city. When rarely Sun shines it's the best time for pics! Now it's the best time (September).

I'm avoiding mud/dirt roads in most places until I get a pair of mud tires, it's very slippery for radials. Even for muddies but you get some grip with them at least. The first part of the video is of one guy got bogged and pulled by a jeep, who himself got bogged before but didn't capture it :) Second part is somewhere not in my country (Saudi Arabia I think) but definitely not as tricky and slippery, but you know Nissan/Toyota the rivalry BS :)

Then the same video got a response from another Patrol, in Saudi Arabia as well.

Here you might think (Well, the Patrol is lighter), No! The short Patrol is about 2250-2364 kg (4960-5212 lb) and the Land Cruiser is about 2,084-2,159 kg (4,594-4,760 lb)

I've nearly got bogged last time with my old Patrol with 35" muddies and open diff in the same location:

Some other pics from last time in Wadi Darbat. The Asian workers with some mixed up style :D It was early around 9am, would've been fully crowded if it was at noon

I'm 'only' in Dubai and have been planning to visit Salalah during the monsoons for the past 5 years, but never found the time/money.

This year, I've finally bought a roof top tent and now I'm used to it, planning on driving down next year and camping.

Question though - during the monsoons, is it just rainy, or do you have strong winds too? Wondering how the tent would stand up (ARB Simpson).

Shukran.

It's mostly drizzles, very rarely heavy rains, but constant drizzles for more than a straight month sometimes depending on the season. I hope you enjoy the place ;)

It's been sometime since I updated, as nothing interesting was around :)

Finally managed to squeeze my wallet to get what's next:

a Set of 5 wheels, 17x9, offset -12. KMC XD Series (XD128 Machete), satin black, would cost me around 450 Omani rials (~1167$ USD):

A set of 5 Marshal (Kumho) Road Venture MT KL71, got those for a good price of 350 Omani rials (~909$ USD).

Should fit the lift kit and all maybe by this week or next, hopefully :)

I enjoy seeing the pictures you put up. A lot of it is more wet and lush then I expect from your part of the world. Look forward to seeing your truck with the new lift and wheels.

Thanks ;) It's like 3/4 months green then the rest is more dry :) And Empty Quarter desert is just 80-100 km to the north. I should post more pics soon!
