Jiro's diesel Xterra

Good points, I will know for sure next year what we will do. To many mistakes have been made along the way (mods, bad decisions and purchase). I think the 2 year plan may be too soon, and this is the reason. My wife and I constantly sway from the idea of using the xterra or the frontier every time we drive one or the other.

Nice rig and photos! Your engine swap is a awesome documentation. I notice some of your videos were about 10 minutes away from where I live. Maybe I'll see ya around! Im in a black lifted tacoma with a TOR sticker just on the other side of 2222.:luxhello:

Cool truck. What part of town do you live in? I'm up in NW Austin. We should have a diesel Expo truck get together some time.

I live off of Anderson Mill in Anderson Mill Estates and commute on 620 to work (3M on 2222/River Place). We should at least do lunch to check out each others rigs.

sounds cool, I work on the North east side of town and lunch time is non-existant but I have Fri-Sat off. I am planning another meet and greet for next saturday at 1pm (it is for anyone that wants to go, but mostly xterra guys may show). Also you are literally 5 minutes away from my place at Colonial Grand.

I just read this entire thread, I love the diesel swap. I too have a new '12 Pro4X that I havn't modified yet. I would love to do a diesel swap but can not imagine doing that until the warenty is gone or the darn thing is paid off.

Just dreaming at this point. Damn cool Xtera.

Cheers

To be honest, with the newer Xterras and Frontiers (I just bought one) it is not worth the diesel conversion. The power is equivalent and the economy almost the same compared to the 4.0. With the newer chassis the diesel is much more complicated, parts are much more expensive and the conversion much more involved. It would be cheaper to import a compete vehicle and keep it registered outside the USA and drive it to mexico or canada when it needs to be out of country. After having our frontier for over a 2 months, I am really enjoying it. It averages about 21mpg combined and there is a lot of power.

The plan with the Frontier is going to be different, more money toward travel versus mods.

Niiiice! I'm trying to talk my wife into letting me take a couple days trip out into the Hill Country to just do some backroad driving.
