keep and eye out as Andrew “Doc” over at Springtail Solutions is on the verge of releasing the long sought after Jeep JKU rear seat delete/platform.
your asking is this for real? I’ve managed to get my hands on one last week, it was delivered yesterday and installed today. That’s how real it is, I just happened to get in on a pre-run early production unit.. after several phone calls over several month.
let me tell you it fits like a dream with laser cut, all aluminum construction with the exception of the 2 metal straps holding the platforms together and the 2 forward universal rails that can be mounted in 3 positions. It’s beautifully made and powder coated with some really cool identifications stating JK laser cut into most of the parts along with the Springtail logo..
Most importantly for me it’s not made from wood, it’s relatively light weight yet very functional.

contact Doc for future availability and pricing for future availability.

I too was bugging Doc for one of these and scored one of the pre production units. Have been procrastinating about installing but your post has me inspired, overall are you happy with it now that you have had in for a few weeks?

Hmmm....needs some extra thought - access from above, placement of brackets is in the middle of the cargo area, making it hard to access/get things in & out.

After traveling the past week or so gave us our first opportunity to put the rear seat delete through it’s passes..
with a Engle Refrigerator on the left and a Black Lab on the right the platform worked perfect with a ton of gear stored underneath it from tools to shovels to recovery gear, freeing up the rear of the Jeep for other items.
not one rattle, I know sever would like a access hatch on top of the floor.. I’ll admit it’s a bit of a challenge accessing items underneath which good organizational skills help..
removing the refrigerator to access a hatch defeats itself, taking the dog out to access would be more practical yet I only accessed under the platform a couple times to access a tool or two after out Taraflex shelf raddled lose..
summary the platform is a huge success, our refrigerator was able to be turned 90 degrees giving the dog much more room while we traveled with a good tie down location behind the drivers seat..a huge improvement over the back seat..

Thanks for the update and glad you are stoked on it! I was traveling and have not installed it yet.
I am actually giving thought to not installing after all keep wondering if not having the back seats will be something I regret.

It would be nice had Jeep designed for a seat to fold down flat for one continuous floor with plenty of storage underneath either fooled dow or in the upright position.
Mira not like we don’t carry any gear with us..

Totally agree seems like a bad oversight that I think has been remedied on the JL?
I am leaning more and more to just keeping the seats in and dealing with it.
Will post up the kit in a separate thread and see if there is any interest.
