As far as using the stock scissor jack goes...be very careful as I've heard nothing but horror stories of them snapping and failing. I've personally never used mine but carry it as a backup. I personally use a bottle jack from old Discovery models (same as Range Rover classic, etc). They have a cradle and I jack right on the A-arms by the shock bolt to lift the wheel off the ground. Only need to lift about 6" to do the job. I also carry a jack stand with me for safety.
Any lifting off the frame of the vehicle and your lifting 20"+ to get wheel off ground.
either switch the main EAS fuses or pull them while on a jack or under your car. Despite what Land Rover says about it not being able to move if a door is open, it will move one day.
