Italy, Lago di Garda/Lago di Ledro

Hi guys,
we just came back from a trip to italy. I thought i could show you some nice places in europe... :Wow1:

Vehicles:
1998 Chevrolet Blazer http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/47695-German-98-Blazer-build
1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/55762-German-94-ZJ-build

We started at 3am on friday, it took us a bit more than 10 hours for the 350 miles to get to the "Lago di Garda" (lake garda). We both got about 11,5 mpg... :Wow1: You think that`s a lot of time and fuel, but i bet you didn`t see roads like this before...

First pic from the day, fueling up. That`s a lot of fun at 11$/gal and 11,5mpg... :coffee:

We chose the "Fernpaß" and "Timmelsjoch" to get over the alps. No pics of the "Fernpaß", it`s nothing special. On our way to the "Timmelsjoch".We`re already in austria:

First stop and some breakfast, a few miles before the "Timmelsjoch" starts:

We went in a "pizzeria" for lunch, drank a few beer and fell asleep. Both rtt`s we`re a hundred percent waterthight, absolutely no problems in that rainstorm that came up that night...

Next day tomorrow, if there`s any interest... :ylsmoke:

Wow Steinez, that is a super cool trip. Glad to see that you got many pics this time. Both thumbs up for a pictoral that makes yoo feel like you are right there. I have only one question...... Is that Vin Deisel :Wow1:that you have in the pic with the rear of the Blazer and Cherokeee showing?:ylsmoke:

Thanks guys, i`ll continue with day two now...

When i woke up this night and heard that rain and storm, i already knew that the awning was going to fail this night. This is what it looked like when we woke up the next morning:

One fail:

The lake looked a lot better in sunshine:

Then we started for some climbing. The italians usually use smaller cars, like you can see at this parking space:

dscf8229z7tr.jpg

Then we started hiking to the climbing route. This area was front line in the first world war, where they fighted against each other in the mountains. It`s crazy if you see this almost 100 years later. Those pics now are from the hiking to the climbing route. Random shots of the path and some old buildings and fortified places from the first world war:

Hope you like it...

It`s my birthday tomorrow, so i doubt i`ll have time to continue the report, but stay tuned for day three... :smiley_drive:

Thanks. Now i have time to continue the report...

This day we wanted to drive some old passes from the first world war, that would lead us to the "Lago di Ledro"...

All packed up and ready to go:

dscf8294he0r.jpg

The road to the "passo di Nota":

Some serious sign:

The highest point, where we just stopped and had some lunch:

There were some relikts from the first world war:

dscf8307bi61.jpg

Also this howitzer, but it`s newer age:

dscf83082hej.jpg

From there we wanted to drive the "Passo di Tremalzo", but unfortunately it was closed:

dscf8309adly.jpg

dscf8310mh0u.jpg

So we continued driving the "passo di Nota" instead:

After a while of driving, this pass was also closed. So we decided to turn back around, because in italy it isn`t funny to get fined for driving on closed roads (2000$ cash, or they`ll confiscate your vehicle). So we had to drive all the was back to the "Lago di Garda", and then drive to the "Lago di Ledro" on the regular roads.
