Is an F250 6.2 V8 Gas Reliable Enough?

Isn't the coyote an evolution of the modular V8s in prior generations?
You would think Ford could figure out cam phasers and timing chains by now.

This thread has me leaning back towards a 6.2 F250 rather than a new F150, despite a super duty being complete overkill for my uses

I'm betting that there are more 6.2s over 300k than there are 5.0s.

Honestly, by the time you add a lift and larger tires, recovery gear, and everything else..an F250 gets damn near the same fuel economy as a 1/2 ton. The advantage is the F250 will still have a thousand pounds of payload left and not be at the limit in any category.

I’ve been a Toyota guy since I started driving ( 81 trekker, 92 land cruiser, 94 4runner, 02 sequoia) and I ran into the same payload issue when it came time to pick a vehicle to haul the camper I ordered. I knew I didn’t want the weight or cost of a diesel so i settled on the F-250 with the 6.2 because of price and the solid front axle. I picked up a 2016 crew cab XLT 4x4 with 75k miles back in February for $33k. I put a flatbed on it and immediately headed out for a cross country trip that ended with a move to Alaska. We’ve put 17k miles in it since February, most of those with the camper on and towing my
m-416 trailer loaded to the hilt. The truck, camper and trailer all together came in at 12,400 lbs total and I got 10.5-11.5 mpg heading up the Alcan. The engine hasn’t hiccuped at all. I know it’s still fairly low mileage, but it’s served me well so far.
