the tank is all the way 'forward' as possible as this is the extent of the east-west queen bed
will reduce the size and install vertically but set it back a touch
affects the CG a might but this is not necessarily an off camber monster, does anyone have a specific experience with taller vs wider water tanks?

Tulsa Truck installed a fabco 12k front axle and fabco transfer case
ill certainly ask the question and report back
corrugated is much more forgiving than al!
we made the 'temporary' bed platform
it is a queen size sleeping east west (60 " at the front 2 x 4)
currently the underside is 28" off the finished floor
we will definitely come down at least 4" and possibly 6" depending on final water tank dims
currently the bed will block about 40% of the rear window
i found a 72 gal tank that is 47 x 18 x 22 and $310 with the fittings installed
i do not believe we need a 'garage' under the bed so bringing it down is no big deal
is inside storage or under bed storage more important?
the space under the bed and between the tank and back door is estimated to be 50 "x 24" 22" in addition to the outside compartments
any practical experience is appreciated for some guidelines
sliding the water tank more rearward clears the wheel wells and allows for a wider tank and some inside storage drawers
should be able to have a volume of 24" wide 20" high & 14" deep or so
the 'valley' between the wheel well and outside box will be the water pump and fittings on the drivers side and diesel air heater on the passenger side

closest we can get the tank is about 6" behind the rear axle but at a reduced volume of about 60 gallons and reduction of storage access-able from the interior
even with ability to pump out of streams and refill how important is that 10-12 gallons?
or is the tank too large and im making it a bigger deal than it is?
is 60 gallons too much?
im used to truck camping, backpacking with minimal water and class A DP motor home with never any water conservation to speak of
desert - BIG deal
PNW - no big deal
American west - no big deal
Canada - no big deal
Baja - ???
60 gal tank is 37 x 29 x 13" tall w/ no baffles, that is a separate issue to deal with as well

How long of trips do you plan to actually be away from ALL civilzation.
Also on the pumping, check out the road choose me's setup. He did a video on YT on it. UV and 4 valves to make the pump fill the tank from another water source.
Also, put a dump on it. Headed home? Dump it etc.

looking for a week to 10 days max and do not want water to be the deciding factor to head out of the bush
seeing how im not talking about outer mongolia but north amercia where water is generally readily available at a minimum wherever fuel is
water is available in Baja, it is the fuel that may not be . . .
i guess im overthinking this and allowing my desire to maximize everything, storage, water, solar, windows in a 14 x 8 x 6 box has its limitations but im an engineer by training and trade and it is hard to step out of that mindset

As far as filling water tank:
I recommend a 5-6 gal bucket and a 110v submersible pump if you have an inverter. Then use a short garden hose to fill tank.
That way any source/hose can fill bucket. I ran into this situation at least twice on Russia/Mongolia trip.
It will work even in lakes and rivers. And if bucket has sealable top and tie down it can be used for washing while driving.
I washed clothes using water from Lake Baikal. Geologically a failed rift.

i re-read your spray foam experience this morning on the treadmill and was going to see what you thought
are you satisfied with the results and performance?
you certainly have the opportunity to test the R values in the Canadian Rockies
did you insulate your floor?
we were probably going to try and 'finish' the electrical layout install the windows then go w/ 2" rigid inside the wall studs and a full layer of 3/8" over the entire wall and floor
then install the wall covering, finish electrical & cabinets . . . simple eh?
unless spray foam is 'that' much better i think we will go the 'easy' route?
