Ignition relay?

Anyone know where the ignition relay is? My 2004 montero limited sporadically doesn’t start. Usual when this happens after 2-10 tries it eventually starts but I’m worried it’s gonna not work sooner or later. When I turn the key the dash lights up but then nothing with the starter. No noise no click, just nothing. Try again and eventually it starts right up. Wanted to inspect the ignition relay but can’t find it and nothing helpful on google!

Looking for that thing i just had in my hand...
Check the wiring connections at the starter and at the battery.

Could be the ignition switch. The plastic center interface wears out in the Gen 1 & 2 and then allows slop in that interface so the switch contact traces can't be met. I've replaced it in every one I've owned. Dollars to donuts its the same switch in a Gen 3.

I have the same problem with a Gen 2.5 which persisted even after the ignition switch and starter were replaced. I don't know if gen 3s are the same but Gen 2/2.5 have an proprietary Mitsubishi ignition relay in the right side footwell behind the dash speaker that will fail and click or buzz. The relay is not in the factory wiring diagrams. I haven't replaced mine and have just been living with the irregular starts.

Here's a few links:

So I’ve realized if I push the key in harder when I turn it, it will start first try every time. For now at least, I’m assuming it will keep getting worse. So that makes me think it’s the ignition that is worn out, seems odd at only 108k miles. Do I need to replace the whole ignition?
