I need to stop buying stupid Toyota's an 1995 FZJ80 Build Saga........

So let me introduce myself, I'm a certified Land Rover nut, and I have a shop with my buddy where we import, repair and sell Defenders.

I've also been building a 2018 Ram Megacab for about a year and a half.

And before I bought this 1995 I bought a 1992 about 2 months ago. Which I need to get rid of. So if you know anyone that wants a 1992 FJ80, this one is for sale. Named Goldilocks:

So I've decided to name this White FZJ80 Land Bruiser.

One might ask, why did I purchase a second one? Well, it came up cheap, had low miles 172K, and is triple locked. Not from the factory! The previous owner swapped the axles in from a wrecked one.

So I'll introduce the Land Bruiser with a quick video and share a bunch of pictures of where the saga has taken us so far.

I'm going to sell the 1992 and keep the 1995. I was going to do a 1UZFE swap on the 1992 tractor, but I'm just not that into it. So maybe I'll sell the engine, tranny, wiring harness and computer with the 1992. Rust free as well.

I've owned a 2001 Tree, a 1985 Xtra Cab I converted to a 5MGE supra motor.

Problem is the 1995 did not come with factory lockers. But the previous owner installed them from a wrecked one, he had the whole vehicle but wasn't smart enough to get the wiring harness for the lockers. Anyway, I've been reading, a lot and most of the parts are probably there. He did install the "computer" for the lockers and the switch, but didn't make it much further.

Also the front leather seats looked like someone had explosive gas after eating at taco bell. The seat bottoms are trashed and ripped.

Engine ran great, I drove it back from Southern Idaho to Northern Utah. But just after I got back the heater hose above the starter blew out. Luckily I had just gotten home and it blew coolant all over my driveway.

The rest of the issues are cosmetic and stereo related. I'll handle the stereo easily enough. Carpets need to be steam cleaned and the exterior looks like crap. It hasn't been washed or waxed in 5 years probably. So I'm thinking of raptor lining it, in a white color.

The new truck already has OME springs and shocks. The steering is a bit loose. So I'll go through and fix all of that. I need to take it to Moab before they close it down again to Covid. So I'm shooting for September.

So I got this far into it. It was the heater hose that broke and the throttle body heater hose. I’m going to delete the throttle body heater and the EGR crap by welding it closed.

Just waiting on some tune up parts, gaskets and filters before I stick it back together.

The previous owner was a genius and broke half of the wiring to the knock sensors. Looks like I will need a while new engine bay wiring harness. I will also make a small mod to the intake manifold, so it can be removed easily without having to take the whole wiring harness off just work on the engine. Thanks Toyota engineers.....

Everything cleaned up on the manifolds. Pressure washer was very helpful along with purple cleaner and simple green.

Engine and engine bay was a disgusting mess.... The wiring harness was destroyed. Had to source a new one. I finally ended up getting one in American Fork Utah at a Japanese auto wrecker.

Got some more accomplished. I cleaned the carpets as best as I could and installed some WRX seats from a Subaru in the front. They look much better and are a lot more comfortable.

Finished the engine. Runs well. Changed the oil and all the filters. Complete tune up and a new engine harness.

Took the ARB bumper off and installed my NWTI bumper off the other land cruiser. Stuck the ARB on the old one minus the winch.

Hid the solenoid behind the grill. It’s wireless so no need to hook up the controller.

13k winch with synthetic rope.

still need to wire up the lights.
