Nice. Definitely one of the best looking and thought out Hikers I have seen. Which location built this one?

Great setup! About your awning....do you find that it needs to be mounted higher? Reason I'm asking is I'm planning a similar setup. I've got an Alu-Cab Shadow that I'll be moving from my Land Cruiser to the trailer. I've read there are brackets available to allow higher mounting. IIRC it was Randy at Lead Dog that 1st suggested a higher mounting location might be desireable.

I’m sitting on 35” tires with 7” airbags. The “bat wing” is at about 6’10” - I am 6’8” tall so kinda had to be up there. The alu cab is an awesome setup too - I looked at both and had to cut a few hundred outta the build. Went with the batwing and I really like it - even if it does have poles.

Did you order the wall kit for the batwing? I've got one with my Alu-Cab and I think the Batwing wall kit is superior. The Alu-Cab does wall kit does not have an interior (near the rig) wall so it's not much of a shelter from bugs and severe weather. IIRC the Batwing has that wall with zippered doors to access the rig if neccessary. But it seals it so you can keep out bugs and weather if neccessary.

I didn’t buy any walls or screens for the batwing yet - still figuring out all the things that I need and don’t need and where to store everything

Does pretty good - been 95 degrees here in a Indiana lately - I’m gonna put a transmission cooler in it and probably re gear - no ive only been on a couple fire roads so far - really want to see the roto hitch in action

Regearing is what I did in prep for towing. I've been running 35s for a couple of years on stock gears (4.10) in my '94 Land Cruiser. It has full armor - skidplate, sliders, Kaymar rear & ARB front bumpers. Also a RTT & Alu-Cab awning, complaining constantly about lack of power plus engine temps warmer than desired. Had to do axle maintenance anyway so I thought - good time to regear. Most info indicated that 4.88 was what you should run with 35s on my rig. However, a little more digging revealed that 5.29 would be a better choice with the weight of the armor and towing, so that is what I went with. I like the perfomance difference already and feel much better prepared to tow on an extended basis.
