Hello Fellow Land Rover Owners

Hi Folks,

Been a lurker here - visiting from time to time; finally registered.

I've 3 Land Rovers: 04 D2 (my wife's daily driver), Range Rover Classic SWB (my trail rig), and Defender 110 (wknd driver).

Also recently got back from the Rubicon Trail last Sept 09 w/a group of Land Rovers from NCLR: http://www.spotadventures.com/trip/view?trip_id=178167; that was a blast.

Look forward to being a sponge (lots of catch up reading to do), sharing and future contribution. :smiley_drive:

That is a totally inappropriate first post. You can not get away with saying hi but not posting a pic of your 110!

Welcome.

cheers

Thanks Graham for the welcome. :)

My bad for not posting a picture of my 110.

It's a 1990 Camel Trophy 110.

Was told it was a scout vehicle for the 1990 Camel Trophy in Siberia back then.

Suppose I owe a bit more detail/explanation on how I got it.

I am the 3rd owner in the USA.

1st owner had it imported from the UK in the early 90s; 1st owner told me he lost a lot of sleep getting it FED/DOT certified finally. Moved on and sold it to 2nd owner in WA.

2nd owner did a complete overhaul mid 2000s, replaced the original 200 TDI engine w/a new one along w/new LT230, R380, Superwinch, list goes on... Moved on and sold it to me.

Being the 3rd owner is a charm - had on opp to talk to both prev owners before purchase. Appreciated the 1st owner's effort finding it, getting it in this country and up keep. And appreciated the 2nd owner's work in getting it in top shape and major replacements including new 200 TDI engine and drivetrain. Came w/cool history and stack of papers dating back when it was purchased in the UK, maint records and invoices of replacement parts over the years.

It's now home in CA. Been almost 3 years of ownership. All good even CHP matching the vin on the chasis to the paper work plus LRNA verifed the vin as a 1990 Defender 110 TDI in a letter so I can register is in CA w/proper the 1990 year, and diesel power plant (means no smog req here in CA).

True joy to drive the 200 TDI on the trail. Have to be careful not to damage it on the trail, yet it has been on sand, snow, and rocks trails. If the trail is expected to be difficult/poss damage, I will take the RRC.

Here's a pic getting an oil change in the back of my garage.

Again thanks for the welcome; look forward to being part of this great online community!

Sweet CT110- I was after it when you bought it, and subsequently sold Mark G. my G4 D-II whom I believe is in your local club. Anyway, just got an '89 CT110 scout truck w/ only 8k on the clock, but sadly it has the 2.5TD, which is a tad anemic. Glad to see you here- great site and great folks- enjoy, and welcome!!

CT 110 Tdi. With a 200Tdi and R380, that'd be the best LR ever built. Shame it drives from the wrong side, though.;)

Hey Ronct110, were you in Glenwood Spring, CO for the Camel Trophy gathering? There were 2 110's there and I thought they were the only 2 in the U.S. I know a total of 8 folks made it out of the 10-12 (est.) "real" Camel Trophy truck in the US. If not, let Scott at Roaring Fork LR know you have one as he's planning another gathering in the future.

and then Mark parked it upside on the wrong side while trying to find his faithful family friend..and I hear you got it back and brought it back to life....
If the pic I saw was the after pic, WOW>....

Ron was not there....once you meet him/see a picture and read some posts/talk to him, he is fairly unforgetable. I saw that write up somewhere too and realized what a bummer he didn't make it...

Oh, hi Ron!
