Funny. We have a 1996 Nissan Pickup. Dull and dependable. I didn't realize that it was a Hardbody, I thought they were just calling the "Pickup". I certainly never thought of making it an expedition vehicle. It is so unremarkable, I don't even have a photo of it. OK: So the wife asks, "It's a gutless wonder. Can you put a bigger engine in it?" Anyone care to guess what a V6 swap would run?

Love those trucks! They're so underrated like the Pathfinders.

Agreed! I've always been a fan. I think I actually prefer them to the Toyotas only because I like having something a little more unique. Both are very capable, well-built machines, but there's just something about the Nissans.

My best friend had a 96 reg cab 4x4 when we first turned 16. I had a Chevrolet Silverado Z71 and even I was jealous of his awesome little Nissan.. they just have lots of character!

I love my Frontier and would love to pick up a mid 90s Hardbody or Pathfinder for a knockaround rig one of these days.

This is my first post on this website, been lurking around for a while. Mainly looking around to see if anybody was running a hardbody for expedition wheeling. Mine is currently set up more for trail wheeling from a base camp, but i would love to set it up to do some expedition wheeling. Although it has been horribly neglected for the past couple years, and would take a complete going through to insure complete reliability. '90 SE-V6 4x4 418K miles.

Anyway here are some pics of mine. Got it in high school (2000, first car). One pic of the first wheeling trip i took it on in 2003. Then some pics of what it looks like today on the last wheeling trip it took.

Specs:
3" body lift
sway-a-way 30% stiffer torsion bars
Self built winch bumper
Self built skip plates
self built rock sliders
Rear hitch flipped
33x12.50x15 maxxis bighorns
15x8 crager soft8 wheels
in-bed light bar w/55w hella driving lights
light bar mounted spare
self built snorkel mounted under spare tire carrier

everything else is stock and mostly original!!
