Hard Reset?

I have a 2006 LR3 and the engine light came on yesterday on the way home from work, I had the codes read and at it is P0171 so I cleaned the MAF Sensor. Now I am wondering if I can disconnected the battery to reset the codes and see if that did the trick.

Is there a concern if I reset the codes this way?

Thanks

That will be fine.

A hard reset is more than just disconnecting the battery. You remove both cables from the battery, then jump a wire across connecting both cables. This drains the power in the capacitors so the memory is reset.

Just connecting the battery will not reset the codes. As Abran notes, the full hard reset procedure is a little more.

P0171 may plague you for awhile; worth considering something to update software (an IID tool) and at some point you may want to just get a code reader capable of turning off the codes (or one that both monitors and can turn off CELs, like a Scan Gauge)
