Gen 3 Monrero 34" Tires

Have any of you tried a narrow 34" tire on the Gen 3 Montero? I was looking at narrow 33's, but wonder if 34x10.5 would do the trick. Any rubbing? How are the freeway revs? I'm on a 2" lift.

What size tires are you running now? Are you running stock offset wheels now? My 285/75R16 rub on full wheel turn, they are just short of 33" and I'm on OME medium springs, stock wheels. 265/75R16 or 17 are the best fit on these rigs, even lifted.

285/70r17 with no issues. I have stock wheels as well as the 9x17's. 285/75r17 would put me about 1" taller and .5" narrower. Probably pushing it.

Not 34s but I run a true narrow 33 with 255/85 r16 on stock wheels and I don't have any rubbing. I'd guess 34 would have little to no rubbing.

Are you going to regear? It will be a gutless wonder if you don't.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I have found that a 34" will work with the right width and appropriate wheel. I ended up going with 255/85r16 to utilize the stock wheels. The aftermarket set I have are 9", which are too wide to accommodate the narrow tire I wanted. Saving some unsprung weight isn't a bad thing either. I'm assuming the beadlocks I have are heavy and overkill for my needs.

I run 34/10.5r17s with 4.90s and love them. Just switched to 17x7 4mm offset wheels, but I when I had them on 17x7 15mm wheels there was no rubbing except for the top of the fender liner up front on big impacts. After trimming/massaging of course. 80mph puts you at ~3100 rpms. 75mph ~2900 rpms. 70mph ~2750 rpms.
