Galvanizing a Tow Bar Receiver?

I have a rusty tow bar receiver and was wondering if having it hot dip galvanized is a good idea? The powder coating and paint seems to not last that long with the road spray and such.

Any issue with this idea? There is a local place that does parts with a 100 lb minimum charge...

Shouldn't be a problem, structurally speaking. BUT be aware that hot dip gavanizing is a relatively thick coating... Probably 2x or more thicker than powder coat. If that will cause issues with mating components, you may want to consider something else...

Depending on the coater, you'll probably have to sandblast all the old coating off before they'll process it.
I considered having a frame hot dipped a few years ago, but it was e-coated, and I couldn't strip the coating inside the boxed frame, so they wouldn't do it. :(
