anything out there? dont see much support for these things outside of specialty military manufacturers.

It's not the kind of truck you would modify into a rockcrawler.
A G lends itself nicely to serious overlanding and exploration with a minimum of mods.
Most owners are happy with the performance of 1 - 1½ inch lift by mercedes heavyduty springs. They have a color system that will tell you what load they can take and how much higher your truck is going to sit.
Just know the more extreme you plan to lift, the more vibrations will come from the driveline... And that will cost you a lot to repair.

You can do a simple bodylift up to 40mm if looks are what you are after. Lifting the body from the chassis will not cause any changed driveline angles.

Mercedes has a few spring options. Mine has the purples.

OME has springs and shocks

G-Wagen Accessories has spacers for 1.5"

This is a Google translated page, so it reads a bit funny. But the information about Mercedes spring ratings is valid.

It could be worth your time to read on the german Mercedes G forums.

For some reason it needs the individual page translated by google. Takes slightly longer, but worth the time.

As that is a current W461 model with permanent 4wd just like a W463. Then the parts could be found within Mercedes spareparts programme. I'd just like to know how they got the geometri right.
Obviously there is differences from the old style W460 / 461, but it should be possible.

You can try www.orc.de

They sell a set of springs, wich gives you a 40 mm lift +, depending on how saggy your old springs are :) They will set you back some 1300.- USD.

I am running these springs on my G, and love them. Nice articulation and smother ride than original springs. They would go nice with some adjusteble shocks as well.

If of interest, you`ll have no problen fitting 33 inch tires with no other mods, after fitting the springs.

Of course, BL will not give you the ground clearence you look for.

it looks like 1.5 inch spacers, 1.5 inch springs, and a body lift to get one up.

whats the stock tire diameter, and the max tire diameter on a stock rig btw?

im running 33's on the lexus, no lift. a couple more inches lift would have been nice last big snow. i high centered at the end of my street.

Stock tire diameter is dependent on model and year, at least for the ones we have in Europe. But count on about 29 inch.
They can take 31 with saggy old broken springs. Put in slightly higher rated springs and 33-34 is within reach.
35 + and you need to do some small modifications.

Easiest way with the old cars is to just put the G500 springs on from the modern car, it raises 1.5" and is evenly set, and these springs are easier to obtain.

You must stick with a progressive diameter coil spring on the rear......fronts don't need to be since axle weight does not change as much on the front with varied loads vs rear.

You also need to get a new brake bias adjust spring, and adjust the linkage between the spring and the axle.

Otherwise the springs change out easy, remove shocks and loosen arms drop axle, and go

The Canadian trucks (which are lifted) have relocated control arm mounts from the factory. If you ever crawl under one of them, you'll notice that the brackets now hang down below the bottom of the frame rails. A compromise for off-roading, but it does solve the geometry problem rather elegantly.

I wonder if some day down the road our fine gov't here in Canada will sell these off as surplus??? One can only hope, and start saving arctic pesos!

Zimm,

We all see you went with a G320. Have you looked at the 1.5" spring spacer that Karl at G-Wagen Accessories offers? That's a great way to do a modest lift to your G Wagen.
