I don't believe you - any sources on that? We'd be very interested if it does happen. As it stands, I already have two rovers that get less than 15 mpg so I don't see much reason to jump on what in my mind is the coolest suv/truck for so much $ when it also sucks fuel so bad.From what I have heard, MB USA is seriously contemplating bringing in the big V8 diesel powered G in the near future. .
My fiance drove an 05 G55 and an 09 G550, both of which she liked, smoother on the new one, possible the 7spd and naturally aspirated and had fun in the G55 even though it's older.
We are going to stick to our ideas on finding a long journey off road capable vehicle that also has decent mpg and range. For now, my 13.4 mpg LR3 will have to do for fun trips on the west coast and the 04 Discovery at 12mpg for work on the east coast. Someday I'll have something cool that also gets 25mpg cross country - a TDV8 G would be a dream come true.
