This should be a good thread.

Here's my 2 cents on the 100....

100 series are in the 14-15 mpg range stock....But depends what's going on...Pulling a trailer, tire size etc...

Seriously?!? I swear I am the only person that got better mpg's in his 80 than his 100... It might be my driving style and the sound of that 4.7. LOL

98-99 100 series have a different transmission than the later years netting a couple more mpg over the 98-99's

My 1999 gets 14-17mpg depending mostly on highway verses in-town. 15mpg is pretty normal and I'm bone stock.

Own both and the 100 series will get about 2 more MPG then the 80 given the same circumstance.

:iagree:

That was my experience as well, 1996 LandCruiser to 2000 LX470.

I believe I also got better fuel economy out of my 5-speed 2005 LX than the 4-speed 2000, something a bit over a mile a gallon.

I got 20+ bringing the 2004 LX home from Reno, but that was that rare 100% highway event. It's good for a real world 17-19 depending on road and speed.

My built 2000 gets about 14 on the road and 10 on the trail.

Yep.

If mpg is a primary concern then buy the 5sp 100 or LX470.

My 80 gets 10mpg in city traffic. 12mpg in city with no traffic. 14-16mpg freeway.

On 35s with stock gearing. Fairly light as far as mods go.

What's the point of this exercise? I own both, and, both get absolutely unacceptable fuel economy.

My 80 averages 13, so does my 100.

That being said, I wouldn't own anything else!

My 80 series gets 11-13 MPG, my 100 series gets 15-18 MPG. Like the 100 series better on the road, like the 80 better off-road.
