I didn't use a slide for a few months and was pretty quickly annoyed with opening the fridge in the back of my JKU. Ended up going with an Alucab tilting slide, it was really light compared to other slides and the tilting feature helps my wife get into the fridge. I am still working through a plywood floor (going to end up with rhino liner or carpet covering it), and the slide has roughly the same footprint as my 50qt. I believe 1-2 inches of extra width on the slide, I'm wondering how I can secure something to use that space well but no ideas so far.
I'd say it was worth it. Makes it easier for access and to remove the fridge (which lives in my garage most of the time as a beer fridge).
