Extendable tongue? Regrets?

I have also extended the tongue of my M416 so that the rear can open without hitting the trailer. The added benefit I did not realize until I got on the trail was that it also allowed me to jackknife the trailer beyond 90 degrees without hitting the trailer on any part of the Jeep. This is great as I can watch the trailer in my mirror (anyone with a loaded JK knows the rearview mirror or even looking out the back is useless). I think I only had to add 4-6 inches. Wire is cheap. I made a junction box on the A-arm (like it originally had with the military harness. This allowed me to create my own connection to the jeep from that junction box (I use 7 pin on all my trailers/vehicles so I can use the nice 7 wire strands that are encased as one wire bundle).

I custom ordered my Aluma trailer with an extended tongue. Added $100 to the cost and was well worth it for the extra clearance.

I think 18 bolts are enough. Barely.

Barley is the word. According to Nucor's fastener shear schedule, if those are Grade 2, 3/8" bolts, you're good to about 88,000 pounds.

I have extended the tongue on two trailers... Worked out well both times.
