A Jalopnik editor got to spend some time with Lance Gilles and his EarthCruiser camper. They were impressed. The included video shows the editor doesn't really understand overlanding, but Lance keeps answering the questions.

Too bad the editor didn't follow up on the comment that the truck in the video had just returned from Malaysia. Lance is a long time competitor in Southeast Asia and Australia off-road competition. On this trip, the EarthCruiser in the video served as The mobile command post for the 2016 Rainforest Challenge. Read about it here

Earthcruisers are nice beasts and I am glad the author was impressed; so am I. I would be more impressed if he hadn't then posted:

"I think the solar panels were more of a supplement to a generator, which powers that stuff rather than the actual engine, but I will see if I can figure that out... full disclosure, this was a long time ago and I don't... totally remember."

Given that Earthcruisers don't have gensets, he sort of lost a bit of credibility. You sort of wonder if he actually spent the night in one or if he paid attention during the demo. ;-(
