If a vehicle is used ~8h/day then charging power must be same order as average consumption. For a little car, 10kw - do-able on existing services for residences, though not multi family. For a big truck, 1-200 kw. Will require major upgrades wherever.
Battery swaps? The upper end of power density is currently ~3.3 kg/kwh. If an eActros requires ~1000kwh/shift or workday, that’s 3+ tonnes of batteries. Possible...but harder than plugging it in or filling a fuel tank. And it’s different than popping a little battery into one of my electronic gadgets. That sort of power requires more secure connections than a bit of spring pressure.

The apparent lower running of costs of EVs coming from fewer moving parts would suggest running 24/7 would work better than ICE vehicles. Battery swaps would allow that. Container locks and one big plug would seem simple enough on something truck sized at least. In through the radiator grill to where the engine and gearbox was, hub motors.
Buying a second hand electric car becomes not at all worth it if not only has the range on a cold day with heaters on become useless but the manufacturer has stopped making the one you need.
Current experiences seem to suggest the multitude of mains charging facilities available now and in the pipeline to push power even faster into the latest machines makes it too fast a growth rate to sink your own hard earned cash into unless you have a surplus or don't care.
I wonder if the drive for so many different manufacturers to have their own charging and battery types will end up being self defeating?
