Not a ton to report here, been more busy of late than I had expected. Part of that was due to holidays and the other part was likely this little fella joining the family after the sad and unfortunate passing of our last basset back in September.

Outside of that the ol L322 is still kicking, made it through winter and some snow adventures just fine.
This week I swapped out my awning for a passenger side opening one.

Aside from needing to do a fluids change maintenance wise the next plans are bumpers finally. Looking to hopefully get at the very least the rear done before late April as I have an annual trip to be ready for.

Really enjoyed this as I've been planning out various exterior/interior configurations of my own and your thread has given me piece of mind.

Looks like you wheel mostly with others but what kind of recovery are you using and have you thought about a winch? I'll be doing a fair amount solo and feel a bit naked without.

Glad you’ve enjoyed what you’ve seen so far! Yea I’ve been through a few iterations, still not sure it’s where I want it but it’s working.

Luckily for me I’ve only been caught out when out on my own one time. Ended up being ok cause I sent the kids out to do their sledding while I worked on getting unstuck lol. I typically play it pretty safe when on my own for that exact reason. And that instance alone sold the winch purchase to the wife when I do make that move. So yes I do plan on a winch when I do the front bumper, once I acquire a winch I’ll be ready to tackle the front bumper.

Got together with a buddy of mine and we kicked out a rear bumper over last weekend. Went fairly smooth and turned out pretty decent.
Cut out some plastic

The overall goal was a slimline bumper with a swing out that might not interfere with the parking sensors. We almost accomplished the last part of that, with some adjustments it might actually pull it off somehow. And we only had a couple of mishaps in the building of it as well. Nothing serious, but my buddy does owe me some touch up paint for the plastic bumper due to what happened when he was trying to pull the tacked in place mock up off lol.
Needs a coat of paint once I add a fold down table to the inside of the tire carrier and I think I’ll be pretty satisfied.

I really enjoy following this build and I like the simple tire carrier. I gave up on making my parking sensors work with a swing out on my 2012 LR4 and just disabled them with the GAP IID tool. I'll be doubly impressed if you manage to get yours to work and not freak out "seeing" the tire all the time. Regardless, I love seeing your L322 actually getting used.

I appreciate the kind words! That inevitably will probably be my path I’m guessing, the main tube didn’t set them off at all but as soon as the swing out was on it started to mess with them. I’ll try a few things and see what happens though.

Got some final touches on the bumper done today. Nothin special, just a coat of paint.

Got a good group of people together for our annual earth day weekend trip for my buddies birthday. This time it was a 3 state 4 day trip with lots of gravel dirt and worse. South Eastern Oregon, north western Nevada and north eastern California, or in other words, lots of high desert type land. Here’s a few pictures. I ended up taking more video this time out than pictures so I’ll probably attempt putting together a little video hopefully in the not so distant future.

So if I was to say that I am contemplating selling my L322 so as to help facilitate investing into a business venture that I am currently working on, would there be any interested parties here? I’d be happy to give someone on here first crack at it if there was.

All the drivetrain fluids are officially changed, and gave me the excuse to add the bolt head cones on the skids.

So in preparation for sale I’ve done the only logical thing and continued to work on the ‘ol girl and take it on more adventures lol
Added a GMRS radio, I stacked it in right next to the CB radio.
Gorgeous dirty interior photo for ya

I then proceeded to cut the rear muffler off. Probably not the best idea for the sale, but it sure does look better! Also, there’s actually a sound that comes out the back now, and it’s really quite good.
I reused the factory tips off the muffler so as to sort of mimic a factory look.
Here’s a dirty up skirt shot of the result.

After that I promptly packed up and headed out to the dunes. Some camping, some sand wheeling, a dirt track race, friends and beers. Good times.

Next up was adding a fire extinguisher. In the past I either never carried one or carried an aerosol can type of extinguisher in the door pocket. Guess it was time to add the real thing. Put it on the fridge platform, good out of the way spot that is always easy to access.
Another dirty shot for you sinners.

Not everything is sunshine and bubble gum though. The dunes finally killed my driver front cv, so a buddy and I got that replaced with a new unit and with that I think the only thing it really needs is a good cleaning before a Mojave/Joshua Tree trip with a good buddy of mine I have coming up in a couple weeks time.
