Driving with RTT and no cover straps

I’ve had my Tepui Autana 4 mounted to my Ram 1500 for a few months now and the straps are already causing markings and wear on the travel cover. With the location of my RTT on my particular setup I do not get ballooning, and considering the cover has a full length zipper at the base these cover straps seem like overkill.

Anyone know if it is safe to run without the straps?

Hi. I added a third strap on my rtt. Without the straps the cover will balloon up and create lots of drag. I put the third strap over the ladder in the middle of the tent. Cheers

huge risk without the straps. Even if you do it for 1000 miles trouble free, a gust of wind, passing semi.... add a gusset, reinforce the wear spots. Cosmetic are a silly thing to worry about
