Driver or Passenger side awning

I just pulled the trigger and ordered an ARB 2500 for my 03 suburban.

What are the pros and cons of mounting to either side.

The only con I have with the pax side is the exhaust is on that side and I'm afraid that if I idle the truck to charge the batteries or for HVAC that fumes will gather under the awning if deployed.

Do you have a swing out tire carrier? If so, I wanted it on the opposite side, to avoid walking around the carrier all the time. If not, I would put it on the road shoulder side.
