Don't forget to change your PCV Valve!

My Quadravan started using a lot of oil and running really hot. I remember back years ago that I had a car that started using a lot of Oil after the PCV valve went bad so I put a new one and and right away. My Idle went back to normal, It has been running cooler and I'm expecting it to use less oil and make get better mileage to I'll let you know how it does.

But for as cheap as they are it's a good idea to replace them often.

I was amazed how my cruiser responded to a new PCV. I replaced the hose and used zip ties to get a good seal. Replaced the gasket as well. Cheap and worthwhile PM!

I change mine every year when I change the plugs. I have never had a problem in my Tundra, but older cars/trucks that I have owned get really messy when the PCV valve goes bad.

I put A Jeep 4.0L head on my AMC 4.2L. The Jeep 4.0l uses a CCV system instead of a PCV. Essentially it is a small orifice in a tube coming out of the valve cover. I had a problem with oil blowing out of the valve cover gasket. I removed the CCV tube and installed an Envalve and haven't had a problem since. http://www.envalve.com/

It's also very easy at every oil change before draining old oil to spray aerosol Carburettor Cleaner into the CCV valve fitting, breather elbow and lines......use up the whole can and let the gunk go into the old oil, then drain and change as normal.
