Managed to hit the quarter mill mark

Did my heater core, and been having fun out in the snow.

Today though, on my way to work I started hearing a rotational clicking sound coming from the front end on decel, first thoughts were cvs or a u-joint, but all of that felt firm still, worried it’s the backlash in the front diff now ? so if anyone has any ideas feel free to suggest em here and I’ll keep checking to see what I can’t figure out.

Did some more investigation tonight, pulled the diff cover, things looked good, backlash felt totally fine. The only thing I could find was that the front drive shaft definitely has more backlash than the rear shaft, not sure if thats supposed to be the case, or if it is, what’s too much. Guess I’ll have to keep searching...??‍♂️

So my kid sitting in the back seat kept saying the noise was in the back, so I investigated the rear, she was right, it must be echoing perfectly through the cabin making it sound like it’s in the front when I’m in the driver seat.

I pulled a little fluid out and it looks clean, but the noise is absolutely in the rear end, I’ll have to wait till I can get my other car back on all fours to start taking the axle apart in an attempt to find the culprit.

Well I went and got a new phone a little while back, this wouldn’t normally matter on the forum here but, in this case it sort of ties in. They gave me the option of keeping my old phone or trading it in for credit back, and when they told me how much they wanted to give me for it I couldn’t turn it down. So I put all that toward an iPad, and a phone with less memory since I can put all my mapping stuff on the iPad now. Then I went ahead and bought a fancy mount and fabed up a little mount for my mount to mount to.

I'm a firm believer in preventive maintenance on all fronts. But.
I'm a "new to me owner" and my vehicle was overlooked. And then was Ham fisted by an unknown number of hacks trying to save it.
I'm currently doing a complete Front/Top end overhaul.
I gave it a thought, trying to save some money cleaning the old lifters. But as I disassembled the rocker assembly's too many of the lifters fell apart or were completely frozen?‍♂️. No saving those. Gonna bite the bullet and get a new set.
Don't buy from the dealer! Obscenely expensive. $31ea.
Go aftermarket and save your dough for other parts.

yes, never cheap out on a mitsu, they never cheaper out on u!
I have a wrecked Japanese pajero.
it's a noteworthy mention , that the vehicle was nearly in perfect condition and it is older than my scrap salvage 91 model.

Holy cow, been a minute! So I guess I’ll do an update post. Per my usual I’ve done lots of traveling and wheeling in this thing since my last post. And outside of oil changes I don’t think I had to fix a single thing or perform any maintenance outside of replacing a rear driver side door handle. I changed up my rack set up a little and then just enjoyed the thing all summer and now into winter with some good snow wheeling trips as well. So here’s some pictures.
These are from our annual trip to the Alvord

After that trip I upgraded my tent straps so they would stop breaking, very odd that I could go so long without that being an issue and then I break 3 in less than 2 months

A family favorite summer swimming spot, we camp and make random day trips here relatively often.

Went to a river spot for an extended weekend, had sun, water hangs, and also a massive thunder and lightning storm, easily the closest I’ve been to some legit strikes.

I think that part of the reason not much got done on the Monty this year was that my other car got ran into and totaled this summer, so I ended up spending a good amount of time dealing with that, taking it all back apart, selling parts, finding a replacement ect ect

RIP Passat
Maybe this year I’ll do more work on the Monty both in maintenance and upgrades. I feel like I also need to try and focus on getting more pictures than I have been getting, guess I’m just living in the moment too much to be an internet influencer lol

Did some snow things with some friends, didn’t get too deep till near the end, but the drive was scenic at least.

The snow line is depicted in this photo quite well, was up to the middle slat of my grill.
