Different kind of Skate bearing...?

So while rummaging through the recycle center here I turned up this little guy. I have no idea what its normal application is but I thought it may make for a neat alternative to regular skate bearings for making drawer slides. Why? Well.. in my off the cuff thinking it seems like the groove in it would allow it to guide itself...maybe creating less bind?? I don't know. What do you folks think??

You can buy them (and the associated guide rails) from McMaster Carr. At least you used to be able to.

I used to use them for automatic (sliding) doors on CNC machine tools.

Ah... cool! Thanks for the info, I will look them up. Any idea what the guide rails are called or are they just called guide rails? :)
