Defender 90 drawer build (Pic heavy)

Observer
I needed a drawer for the back of my 90 and none of the commercial options appealed to me. Sure, some were nice but none utilised the space particularly well. So after a while of thinking, drawing and planning I had come up with an idea.

Started by welding up a frame for the drawer runners.

There’s a hump in the door and to maximise the space I mounted the runner over it

This is a very important structural brace. As the piece of plywood on this side is only screwed down on one side - And the fridge is bolted on to this piece of plywood it would be flopping about otherwise

Bravo! That looks fantastic and very functional. Enjoy the organization, this is on my winter list to do.

Great work! If I didn't like sitting on the wheel "humps" so much I would also probably install a drawer system. I keep my rear bench out and run my 90 as a 2 seater always. My Boxer loves the back and when the weather is bad, we sit in the back and enjoy our drinks out of the elements.

Wow, incredible job matching the vehicle. What kind of glue did you use for the carpet and where did you get the aluminum trim for the edges?

Thanks for all the positive comments all.
I used regular PVA glue throughout. I just rubbed the back of the carpet with sand paper to give it key first, that carpet is not moving.
The aluminum trim is just lino-edge or vinyl-edge used for lino carpet, just from a local builders providers. At the back there's a stair nosing. I couldn't find one just right locally so I had to got that online, ebay I think.
