Isidre will be driving his Repsol Mitsubishi T1; it was adapted so he can drive it as he is handicapped, but he hasn't let that stop him from competing in this Endurance rally. he has an amazing story, so, I'll leave his Twitter below in case you want to follow up on his journey to the 2017 Dakar:

Cristina has been competing in Spanish and other European rallys for some time, this year she gets to accomplish her dream of setting of for the biggest Endurance race of them all: Dakar. She has been doing all of this while finishing her medical degree back in Spain, too! She will be entering with her Proto Arc (specs links below) and will be doing her best as she lives her dream.

Ariel Jatón

Argentinian pilot Ariel Jatón has partnered up with Spanish company Acciona to make Dakar History by entering the first proto-type EV, they anticipate to be able to compete with the traditional ICE in the most difficult and challenging endurance rally of them all: the Dakar. I'm sure even Elon Musk and his Tesla team must be wringing their hands wanting to get into this action.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that loves seeing these trucks in their proper element; its not a works team, sure, but the fact that even privateers with proper sponsorship can take them back where they belong is a welcomed sight.

Footage, as expected, is rather hard to find of the first stage; however, and I thought this perhaps give a much better view of what Motorsport can do globally than some 5 min breakdowns ever could. Catalan Channel 3 has put together a sweet collection of POV footage from the drivers and titled it 'My Dakar,' you'll need to have a VPN to see it, but this is perhaps the coolest thing ever, I especially like Manuel Lucchese footage, so rad:

Tunnelbear VPN add-on for Google Chrome (Free) is what I usually recommend as its pretty easy to get it up and running
