I've got 285s on my 4Runner and took a ~3mpg hit because I had to buy 60lb tires if I want that size.
I hear ya.

I just bought 7.50R16s and went from 17mpg wirh 33x10.50s to 22mpg. I'm never going back to wide tires.
Tall, skinny, LRD and I just added 95 miles to my range between gas stops.

What vehicle? I took about a 2.5 mpg hit going from 285's to 35's on my Ram 2500. Probably go back to the 285's next. Function before form.

Way better winter performance too thru slush, windrows, standing water.
Better ride, soo much smoother a ride I no longer dodge cracks and holes in the road.

Just have to cut the flares down from 4" to 2".
I had this same size on all my F250s back in the 1970s.... with split rims. I've come full circle.
