Custom 2019 Ford F450 and one-of-a-kind Aluminum Shell

If you don’t like attention, this probably is not the rig for you. Built to handle the most burley conditions, every aspect of this rig is overbuilt. It features a custom REMOVABLE aluminum shell which sits on an aluminum flatbed installed to a 2019 Ford F450 Ultimate Lariat 4WD Diesel.

Our travel needs have changed so we are letting go of our dream rig for someone else to enjoy.

Overview:

This rig was built to travel the backcountry in style while pulling a lifted Airstream. The Shell was designed to hold two motorcycles (or an ATV) while having plenty of room for extra gear and equipment, as well as a 46 gallon water tank and a battery/ inverter/ solar panel system capable to run an ARB refrigerator indefinitely as well as fill virtually any electrical needs.

This well thought out custom build includes surround exterior light with a remote control, 300 watts of solar, an access ladder and roof rails for hauling extra cargo if needed.

Hi Kevin - good to hear from you. Congrats on the new project. Looks ************. I will have to set some time aside to comb through the 31 PAGES!! Haha.

Thanks for the compliment too.

Going back to a Sprinter but a 4x4 this time. No longer need to pull the Airstream so it is time to downsize.

take care
Kurt

This is a rad rig. Is the shell insulated? Also assuming those protrusions on the side are the lifting rams? GLWTS.

Yes the shell is insulated and those protusions are 6 foot hydraulic rams on each corner to lift it. We went with LONG rams so that the shell can rest on the ground for loading and unloading bikes, gear, etc. Most truck camper set-ups leaves the shell several feet off the ground.

Great video, and great work on being able to lift from the ground to bed height! My jacks leave mine 2 feet up, so ground-level is awesome.
I sure which I could load mine that quick ;)

Thanks for the compliment. It was definitely a good call to design the jacks to be able to set the shell on the ground for loading / unloading. The 6 foot hydraulic rams are super beefy and are designed to lift 14,000 each. The shell is totally stable when in the highest position. I used to worry every time I had to load or unload my bigfoot camper as it would move around quite a bit in the high position - not true with this one.

Photo of the bikes loaded. This rig includes a 10 foot 3 piece (wide) aluminum ramp that is stored on the roof to load/unload the bikes when the shell is on the truck (if needed).

Beast of a rig. I've ridden in it and can attest to the build quality of this truck. I wish I had the extra $$ right now!! Good luck with the sale Kurt!

I am 95% certain I saw you driving south on 5 somewhere around Portland OR a few weeks ago?? I thought it was a kimbo camper but it definitely looked like a replaced bed such as this.
