Composting Toilet — Report on 8 months full time usage

There are two composting toilets that are the gold standard. Natures Head and Air Head.

At that price, I plan to build my own. If I did not have the skills, I would buy the airhead. The Natures Head looks like a pain to disassemble and empty.

You can buy the “urine separators” all day long on eBay. I plan to add a stirring mechanism, but that is to be designed.

The rest is a box, a bottle, a seat from Home Depot, and a bucket.

FYI The Separett has the bucket on a kind of turntable. There's a simple mechanism that lifts and rotates the bucket maybe a thirtieth of a revolution each time it gets sat on for distribution purposes :)

My toilet has a stirrer, so I say its best to stir the pot.
If not stirred, sometimes I neglect. After few days ends up with a central wet lump of poop what will take forever to dry (reduce in volume) its bin will fill up faster.
Stirring, gets me over 100 poops before it really should be emptied.
When emptying, its a loose slightly damp mix. Not stirring likely result in a big crusty surfaced lump with creamy filling.
