Collection of Trailer Builds

Well, my build plans for the M116a3 never took off. A few weeks back, I just bought this trailer that was already built and came with most of the amenities that I was looking for I have since replaced the pintle hitch system with a lock-n-roll. Waiting on replacement hubs to then match up the wheels to my LX.

New to me 1967 Stevens M416. Slow project so far but there has been progress. Plan is to do a tailgate soon, then paint. Eventually add tongue box and possible water tank underneath.

All you guys with roof top tents... serious question, Im not making fun. serious
What if I built a platform on trailer and just threw my pup tent up there and tied it down? I have one that expands quickly, and though it takes another minute to put in a mattress, I end up with a roof top tent, lighter and more aero while driving.
I know RTT are nice, but I mean, its still a tent... Im not a full-timer either.
There are a few threads on this very concept. Be sure to post how you do it. A camp cot might be a better starting point.
I'm curious how you pack it for the highway.

Theres this over priced option.

I was well into an off road trailer build for my own use and came to a sudden STOP when my wife decided she wanted to go camping with me. It totally caught me off guard as she had been an anti-camper up to that point. That trailer wasn't going to cut it for her so I put the build on hold and bought a "tear pop" trailer - looks like a tear drop but has a pop up tent. After completing a lot of modifications to "her" trailer I finally got back to mine. I finished it (it's not really done) quite differently to my original plans but it's actually a bit more versatile now.

Here's my current trailer and the original build thread is my signature below. I've also included her trailer which isn't a build but rather a modification.

Here’s a pic of my project. A Pac Mule trailer shortly after I added Timbren suspension with electric brakes. The Thule rack was a craigs list find. I’m now working on adding an electrical system and linear actuators.911696F5-A03B-482F-93D7-A96F156CAAE4.jpeg

Awesome - trailer project envy over here, thanks for sharing.

My $.02 - your adjustable tongue needs one more square tube attached to the frame further back (under the box). Currently, the fully extended tongue (as shown above) places all torque/moment at the bolted attachment (where you replaced the pintle). Adding one more square tube to the frame (with a longer tongue than what you've currently got) makes a big difference in terms of spreading load and resisting any bending or twisting over time.

So, longer tongue and one more square tube as an additional fixed receiver/support (new one being just a structural housing, no more pins for adjusting). Hoping that makes sense....

Good luck bud, looking good!

Here a shot of mine. Its tucked away in the shed but today i fitted my spare wheel mount and wheel, and started on the tread plate step panels for the arches. Also got 2x 25l fuel cans mounted, 1 for diesel to run the heater and 1 for petrol for the tow vehicle(2005 Range Rover Sport SC)

The trailer is a Sankey with modified draw bar, steel box and roof tent. Not had much use yet but planning a lap of West Scotland and the Outer Hebridies this summer.
