So while shopping at my local Kroger I saw some castrol gtx 5w30 on super clearance in a cart.

So my question is can oil go bad? Should I stay away from it?

Should have an expiration date on it. The more additives, especially metal based, the faster it will oxidize and deteriorate. It needs to be kept in a low humidity, moderate temperature environment. As long as its not expired though, and not exposed to horrible elongated conditions such as heat, then you should be fine.

For a second I thought "clearance oil" was like "blinker fluid" for a vehicle or "squelch juice" for a radio.

As in "Oh you got high centered because you didn't have enough clearance oil." :sombrero:

Never heard of an expiration date on oil. I highly doubt it.

I highly doubt it would go bad in this lifetime. Likely getting out of that product line, or it's been discontinued/superseded.

Humidity either in a sealed bottle.

Wonder how many stores actually return old oil and how many oil companies have millions of bottle oil ready to ship. It's not gonna go bad and oil companies issue gonna swap them out like milk in a grocery store.

Buddha.

Finally in expo white.
I've heard rumors oil gets "waxy" if kept too many winters under you work bench. Not sure if true.

It's what I use in my LR and if I saw it I would certainly get it. Never heard of oil expiration date, never noticed one on anything that I have purchased. Now I'm gong out to the shop to check, you have my interest.
