[Chevy Express] Adding light switches to side door area... Door jamb wire loom?

I have a 2013 Chevy Express extended that I'm building into a moto / camper van. I want to add 3 switches to turn on 3 different sets of lights.

I've identified 2 possible locations for these switches:

1. Mounted vertically, on the bottom of the B pillar on the factory trim that covers up the seat belt & retractor. With all the moving parts here, I'm worried that the wiring from these switches would interfere.

2. On the side barn door. However, I'm struggling to figure out the best way to get wiring to the door. The models equipped with factory power locks use a strike plate that disconnects when the door is open (pic below). Closed, the door is about a pinky's distance from the door jamb. Fully open, I think the loom would have to stretch 7 inches.

Curious where others have mounted switches in this location and where they did it. Pictures always appreciated.
