Cheepsk8’s 2001 burb

Yesterday I decided to make some side shades for the rear windows. My perverted fantasy was that I could make them interchangeable side to side. That way, if I wanted, I could have either shiny side or dark side out. After cutting out two, I realized the windows are different! Why? Effing G.M. Engineers! So, I made another for the other side. I’ll get some Velcro to help hold them in. 8131FDE2-9988-4DAF-89A1-A4DEA226BBAB.jpeg51B8201C-C75A-4A21-B86F-9DEB6BA25C71.jpeg906342E0-D756-44D9-B3C0-923067144F08.jpeg

On our camping trips with the burb we noticed a severe annoyance; there is no way to open the cargo doors from the inside! After some brainstorming, I came up with an idea that wasn’t gonna work. Of coarse I realized this AFTER I drilled a hole in the plastic. Then I had another great idea. It was cheap, fast and, easy. Run the door latch release cable through a pull string. Just tug on it to open. 63009E3B-532D-4D05-88F2-C7BC041EB16B.jpegCDF6C369-9090-4415-A926-8DA1B38199C3.jpegDE6FE037-2A5A-4D24-9F17-D56FE70BB3DF.jpegA1954545-5C07-4EC0-B6A4-21ABB7EF4090.jpeg35BDF7AB-A4B0-4DF1-B8FE-6EF88B9C2F0F.jpeg

Chewepsk8,

Great attitude and great adventures. I like the window black outs, way more practical than my 5% tint.

Keep the wheels turning and showing us more of your adventures.

Our simple, low-buck approach to sleeping situation for the kid. I don’t know why it won’t load in the order I took them or selected them.

Cheepsk8,

That looks so clean and simple, leaving plenty of room for you in the back where you can stretch out.

Looks great.

My stereo has a separate cassette player mounted down in the center counsel. I decided that would be a good place to mount my cub radio instead. I unplugged the cassette player and the radio wouldn’t work. The clock is on but, it wouldn’t turn on. So, I plugged it back in. Still no dice!

CB installed. It’s an older Cobra 29 with a Uniden board that’s been peaked and tuned. I’m running a little Will magnet mount antenna.

Put in a rebuilt hydroboost brake booster today. Totally f’ed up the little clip on the brake pedal though. It went flying under the dash somewhere I can’t find.

Robbed one from the wife’s Tahoe. Will have to get one from the junk yard.

I don’t know why it doesn’t like to post in the order I selected them. Oh well. With this system, I can still slide the rear seats back and recline a good bit. I can slide them forward and tilt forward to get maximum sleeping length. The little fold out extensions are not meant to take much weight.
