I'm 3 days into my vacation and mid way through the rebuild and lift on my 96 SR and thought I'd share.
Ring end gaps were high but not beyond service limits, bearings had some smearing but no impregnation into the crank, no texture or grooves on any of the bearing surfaces, I plastigauged everything and it came out to be well within specs, no tapering, no thrust wear. Went with OEM rings, King bearings, felpro gaskets, OEM valve seals, revised lifters (that cost a bit) and the overhead cam valve spring tool (cost another bit) to install all that.
Original plan was to throw a single 50 trim turbo on the truck but with my plan being to move to Arizona in the near future, I need the truck to pull some miles reliably before I go doing stupid stuff. :snorkel:
Some pics to share:
Wheels tires are 37's on 17x10 american racing, trimming and lifting is in the works now.
Anyone know of other upper intake manifolds that bolt onto the 6G74? post 2000's eclipses? 8G galants? intrepid? Anything?
