Botswana over Christmas

Hi all

Will be heading to Botswana on the 10th of December and was hoping for some advice from people who have been there over Xmas. Wanted to know how Christmas effects things in the country like what's open? E.G national park, shops, restaurants and accommodation.

Was also wondering if you guys recommend waiting Christmas out in a hostel then getting on with the things I came to do in Botswana? Or just just getting on with it, if things are not effected by Xmas to much ?

Thanks

It's been many years since I spent Christmas in Botswana, however my suggestion is to pick an area in which to camp over the period, stock up beforehand, and spend Christmas in the bush. It won;t matter if supermarkets or ful stations are closed if you're in the bush. Having said this, look carefully at where you might go - it can be very hot in summer - I've seen over 50 C in this period!
