Firstly, hello everyone :) Some may recognise the car/ know me.

I have bought myself some Compomotives and some BF Goodrich 265/65R18s and will be fitting them in 2 weeks when I get back home...

For those that have Compos with the same tyre setup, please could you post some photos? I cant decide if I should go white out or white in on my baby.

Below she is in all her glory with factory wheels powdercoated black

I actually like the white lettering, but I put mine in now because they just get thrashed and look horrible if you use it off road.

On my goodyear silent armors, I had them out for awhile but they got nasty and half scraped off anyway. I was surprised I didn't have other more severe sidewall damage. I had them re mounted in just for the remainder of the tread life.

Big fat truck sidewalls = white lettering. Low profile sportscar sidewalls = black.

True the white lettering gets a little beat up when used offroad a lot, but my 5 year old BFGs that are used almost exclusively offroad still look pretty good.

For as long as I've been into Land Rovers; white in....white out is for Jeeps.

That said, its your truck-I still think white in will look better with that setup.

I put the white out when new.
As others mentioned, the lettering tends to get thrashed. Also I have a theory that the outer sidewalls sustain more abuse due to scenarios where you are driving by feel to avoid a significant obstacle on one side and just kiss a rock or whatever on the outer sidewall on the opposite side.
Anyhow I got 3+ yrs on my previous set of bfg atkos on LR3, so after about 1 1/2 yr, I had my current set remounted with black side out. Cost was $40 I think. The visible sidewalls look a lot better after, and I think it could help extend the life to even out the abuse on the outer sidewalls.

I am leaning towards white in - I just love the look but always curious what others think. I still wish we could buy the 4Runner in South Africa with the steering wheel on the correct side of the car - I would buy it in an instant!

I had the same debate when I bought my BFGs. I think for most Rovers, white in looks better. However, I think your rig has enough kit that the white out will fit right in. For mine, I felt like the lettering seemed appropriate given the decals and overall look of the XD. Your LR4 is in a similar vein, lots going on (decals and kit) that the lettering will look great, but either would work.

I say white out, just my $0.02...

I went back and forth on that as well before the new KM2s install. I hit a few members up for opinions and we all decided black-out!

But I have see the Disco-Parts Disco 3 with white-out and it looks nice!

White out is for Jeeps. White in is for Rovers and people that understand that more isn't always more.
