Battery powered AC for campers

On a reccomendation from a friend I just picked up a 5050btu in wall AC unit. The unit is 12x14x18 and rated 400W at 110v, its more than enough to cool 7x10 camper especially one with good insulation. I hooked it upto the 2000W inverter in the camper mog and it runs without a problem (anything less than 2000W won't start it, I have a 1200W inverter in my other truck and it starts it about 1 in 20 times). I have enough battery power in the camper to run it for 14 hours (6x group31 trojans). Once its started and everything has settled it takes about 37amps at 12V. 35amps is low enough to keep it running from the alternator while I am driving. In the day it costs me less than that as the solar contributes.

I just need to find a place to install it where the water can drip and it can be properly vented.

You have more info on AC? Where did you find it? Name brand? How much did it cost ya if you dont mind me asking. Wonder if I could find a roof mounted unit with similar specs for the Pinz?

Not sure which brand he is using but here is a GE one about the same.

It weighs like 44 lbs. so you would need to mount it well, not sure how it would take to off road abuse.

For roof mount units, look at Dometic.
