Scored the Black Friday deal of a lifetime!

Friday 11/23/18, I purchased an almost-new 2018 Four Wheel Campers - Raven (Shell) in Bonners Ferry, ID. When I picked up my truck in December of 2017 I had intentions of adding a camper of some kind. Moving to Colorado put that plan on hold but not for very long. I'm excited to "build" this thing and make it more comfortable for travel.

Aluminum skids will be going on the truck soon! Total Chaos just sent me this teaser shot.

Can't wait to ditch the factory skid. It's been on it's last leg since FJ Summit in July

What sort of sway bar links have you got there?

PS. Congrats on the new camper, you are going to love it. I'd suggest putting a simple jam nut on one end of each turnbuckle, that will keep them from ever coming loose. Also, I'm not sure if you have the long bumpers on the front of the camper (can't quite tell from the pictures), but I curt a good 3/4"-1" off mine to allow the camper to sit that little bit more forward. It's purely an aesthetic thing for me, but it seems to look like it fits better without that large space between the camper and truck.

Thanks for the info. I will look at the bumpers. The camper sits 1.5" back from the OEM tie down rails. If I remove those I can get the camper a little closer with shorter bumpers.

Big suspension upgrade for the Tundra!

I picked up a set of Elka 2.5 Coilovers and Rear Shocks from Toytec Lifts earlier this week. Here are a couple of pics from the install:

Very excited to be running these, especially here in Colorado. The shock bodies are anodized aluminum which offers much more corrosion resistance over a steel shock body. This means they'll stay looking nice and won't rust like some of the other options
(I hate mag chloride & road salt ):mad:

So far, these have completely changed the ride of the truck. The largest change is when hitting a series of bumps or potholes. With the spacer lift, the truck would dive into bumps and potholes and the steering wheel would jerk left to right. Now, I can hit the same "obstacles" and the truck barely moves. It completely absorbs the impact and the steering feels consistent. There are still a few very large bumps that you definitely feel. I plan to mess around with the High and Low-Speed compression adjustments to see if I can reduce that. It's nice being able to fine-tune the ride without having to take apart the shock

I haven't had a chance to air down while hitting the dirt. This is just feedback from Thursday-Now. Will collect more data on my trip to SoCal in 2 weeks. I'll have a chance to hit a variety of terrain and air down the tires. With that said, I'm very impressed with the build and ride quality, these are certainly set up well right out of the box.

More feedback will be shared after putting 1500 miles on them, keep an eye out for that post around the end of this month

Running a 1.5" block, not exactly sure of total lift with the airbags. I never had a factory measurement to go off

I have a 2” block and 1.5” shackles in the back.

Nice setup! You'll love the camper and be surprised how many places you can take it. We have taken our Eagle, FWC into some rough spots. Enjoy!

UPDATE:

It's been 1500 miles and I'm still very happy with the new suspension. 12/22 I started my trip to SoCal and made a few stops along the way. The suspension rides very nicely at highway speeds and made the trip super comfortable.

The last 4 days I've been camping in the Anza-Borrego desert and had a chance to see what these shocks do off-road in sand, hard-packed dirt, and rocky terrain. I could maintain 25-30mph over a lot of the washes but had to slow down occasionally due to the camper on the back. It's still a little top-heavy.

I didn't air down the tires but I'd imagine at 25psi I could easily hit 35-45mph in some of those sections. I had to get back to SD to help family with something but I plan to head back to the desert in the first or second week of January. I'll let some air out of the tires and let her rip
